As a supplier of metals as commodity products, BenMet NY must set prices reflecting the world markets for each item. This does not mean that there is one price for each metal and the customer has to take it or leave it. We pride ourselves on our ability to work with customers to find the price level or price formula that best suits the customers own business.
Whilst we have no control of the price dictated by the world market, we do have control of the timing of the quotational period and delivery alternatives. Nickel and tin are traded on the London Metal Exchange and through dealing member offices 24 hours a day every business day. BenMet NY is able to place orders with its brokers enabling its customers to buy at any pre-determined price if that price trades at any time and in any time zone.
BenMet NY can design pricing formulas to cover customers metal needs for up to 27 months forward, by similarly taking advantage of LME pricing. We can offer fixed price contracts or contracts determined by the price in any forward month. These pricing options, when correctly used, can take away the volatility of metal pricing from the customer and allow him to concentrate on making product at set margins without market risk.
BenMet NY operates a separate website under the name www.freemarketnickel.com. This site can provide customer specific nickel price quotes to registered users, updated throughout the U.S. business day.
Ferro-Alloys such as ferro-vanadium and ferro-molybdenum are not traded on any organised exchange but formula pricing can still be arranged using quotations published by recognized industry journals such as Metal Bulletin, Platts Metals Week and Ryans Notes.
BenMet NY welcomes the opportunity to discuss with metal users what pricing systems would best suit each individual client and how such systems can be put in to practice.
Stocks of nickel are held in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, W. Virginia, Indiana, California and Pennsylvania.
Stocks of ferro-vanadium are held in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
